Recognizing that human life at every age has been sanctified by the Incarnation (in which God became man, first as a single-celled Zygote inside Mary), the Respect Life Committee seeks to defend human life through prayer, service, and witness. We have placed ourselves under the patronage of Saint Gianna Molla. Our projects include a permanent box outside St. James' front door, where parishioners may drop off diapers, wipes, and gently-used maternity, infants', and children's clothing. We give all donated items directly to families in need or to local pregnancy help centers, such as Choices and Genesis. For more info or to join us, please contact Elsie at 412-944-8922 or elr4life@gmail.com.

The bereavement ministry is particularly for those who have experienced a loss and are still in the grieveing process. We understand that everyone processes grief at their own pace.
We also welcome volunteers who would like to support those in the midst of a loss, such as providing food and comfort, serving at Mass, visiting funeral homes, and other services.

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul. The Divine Redeemer Conference helps those in need in the Quaker Valley, Coraopolis and Neville Island areas. We often work with other agencies such as Union Aid and the Salvation Army to name a few and are funded primarily through the kindness of our parishoners. Those interested should contact John Nard at 724-251-9169 or mrjanard@gmail.com
